Aircrafts could only arrive in Frankfurt until 8 this morning no, there is also no take offs allowed anymore. As the sky remains partially open in Germany, intercontinental flights were diverted, mainly to Munich.

It is the first time in European aviation history that we have to deal with such a phenomenon.

Yellow-red for the airports in Germany: Nine Airports have been closed due to the ash cloud from Iceland

The cause for all the problems is the cloud of ashes released after the eruption of the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajökull. According to experts, the volcanic ash, which is located at a height of six miles, can damage the engines of aircrafts and affect the pilot’s view of pilot, imposing to much risk to the flight, even in a short hp. Given such risks, the machines are set to remain in the ground until further notice.

Ireland, the UK, Belgium, Holland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and France have also been affected.
