A new website by the European Public Weather Forecast is now available with information related to 650 regions in the continent, in 28 languages.

The warnings from the “Meteo Alarm” website are also available as RSS feeds, and can be integrated into other websites.

The information for ten different weather parameters is valid for a period of 24 to 36 hours.

The value of the system lies in the concentration of some very different partners, and the unification of the warnings.

Said Michael Staudinger of the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) in Austria, who is also the project leader for the “Meteo Alarm“.

The website gives an overview of expected weather-related anomalies – such as storms, possible flooding, the increased risk of forest fire, the risk of avalanches and even weather-related flight delays.

Each of the 650 European regions is highlighted with colors in the diagram: Red for what is considered as an exceptional risk, and stands for dangerous weather conditions. Orange means alert level. Yellow means a low alert level. Green means the absence of special weather situations. All information is also presented in a grayscale chart with icons highlighting the current and predicted situation for a specific region.

Overall, the site is simple, easy to use, and presents valuable information that can be easily narrowed down to a very specific region and location, and easily tracked down through its RSS feed.
