Hollywood movies

I think that Hollywood movies are for lazy people that think that reading a book is way too much work, just like what fast food is for, well, food.

The very same people that develop the attention span of a fly, turn lazier and lazier, more and more fond of closed spaces, less and less self opinionated, and tend to be brainwashed by anything the TV set, presenting programs in a format inherited from the Hollywood movies, tells them, “because if it went all the way up on TV, then it must be true”.

  1. I think that blogs are for arrogant pricks who just want folks to think they know a lot and have “interesting” opinions…

Actually, I don’t think that. However, blanket statements like that one on Hollywood movies or this one on blogs are (for the most part) useless, and do show an arrogance unbecoming the writer.

Are a lot of Hollywood movies crap? Yep – same with books, TV shows, and yes, even blogs. Do too many (interpret “too many” however you see fit) get sucked into that crap? Yep. But even readers (of Chaucer or Harlequin) deserve a break sometimes.

    • Well, the base purpose of a book or a movie is to put yourself into someone’s footsteps and give you a life experience you would otherwise not acquire.

If it is not fulfilling that base requirements, or it is dismantling the purpose to either make you depart with your money in the name of “mindless entertainment”, or to lead you in a specific direction for a specific cause, as in brainwash you with it, then it is crap.

And Hollywood are the worldwide specialists at the later both, just go to any cinema – as they monopolized and standardized them, in a McDonalds way – worldwide and have a look around, to see what I mean.

It is meant to make you wise, not make you drink one kilo sugar while eating one kilo salt, while watching a spaceship with an alien in it in the screen, after having paid 10 euros to seat in a womb-like dark room; I would call this as anything: as a rip-off, a rape, etc. Anything but a break and/or further the less, entertainment.

      • Actually I always thought books were to entertain, like movies and television. If you think that everything that comes out of Hollywood is garbage, save your money and don’t go see any movies. I have enough to do in my life that I enjoy the chance to rest my weary brain by watching some mindless entertainment for a couple of hours. I also read books, magazines, and blogs (some good, some bad). Must every moment of every day be a teaching moment for me?

      • Why is that, and since when did a “break” became a synonym to “mindless entertainment” ?

Seriously, there is so much you can do without necessarily focusing your brain on, but still in contact with your human side, such as exercise, go for a walk, have a spin to the lake, or go have a chit-chat with someone you might now or not, go interact, rather the decadence of paying to spend hours locked in listening to ridiculous sounds and looking at animated images doing something mindlessly stupid ?
